$600,000 in Cryptocurrency Stolen in Brașov by Fake Police Officers

A robbery involving over $600,000 worth of cryptocurrency recently took place in Brașov. According to authorities, seven individuals are suspected of organizing and executing the operation, with five of them disguising themselves as police officers to enter an apartment where cryptocurrency transactions were conducted.
The incident occurred in a residential building in Brașov, where people involved in digital currency exchange activities lived. The attackers restrained five people — four men and one woman — and forced two of the victims to transfer cryptocurrency to digital wallets controlled by the perpetrators. Other valuables, including luxury watches and cash in various currencies, were also stolen.
Before the attack, the suspects rented an apartment above the targeted one to monitor the residents' activity. The timing coincided with a party during which the victims reportedly consumed alcohol and prohibited substances. The complaint was filed with the police only the following day.
So far, three of the seven suspects have been detained. Authorities have conducted searches at 28 locations across seven counties and the capital city as part of the ongoing investigation.
