Aster Token Surpasses Hyperliquid with $24.7B Trading Volume

The Aster token has recorded a significant surge in open interest and trading volume, surpassing competitor Hyperliquid, according to DefiLlama and CoinGlass data. On September 18, 2025, the token's open interest jumped from $3.72 million on Friday to $1.25 billion, marking an increase of approximately 33,500% in less than a week.

Aster's 24-hour trading volume reached $24.7 billion, exceeding Hyperliquid's $10 billion, as well as edgeX and Lighter, which reported $8.25 billion and $6.18 billion, respectively. Total value locked (TVL) also rose from $625 million to $1.85 billion, according to DefiLlama.

Open interest and TVL are key indicators in DeFi, providing insight into liquidity and trader confidence. The rapid growth of Aster suggests heightened community interest and a potential consolidation of the token as a significant asset in the perpetual contracts market.
