Binance and DK Bank power crypto payments for Bhutan tourism

Bhutan becomes the first country in the world to implement a national-level crypto-based tourism payment system. The initiative was launched in partnership with Binance Pay and DK Bank, Bhutan’s first fully digital bank licensed by the Royal Monetary Authority.

Visitors to Bhutan can now use the Binance app to make cryptocurrency payments for travel services including airline tickets, visa fees, accommodation, entry to cultural sites, tour guides, and even street market products. The system works via dynamic or static QR code scanning and supports over 100 cryptocurrencies. Payments are instantly settled in the local currency via DK Bank.

The main goal of this project is to simplify payments for international visitors while supporting the digital inclusion of local businesses, especially small vendors in rural areas. Over 100 local merchants are already integrated into the system.

This national initiative positions Bhutan as a global pioneer in integrating blockchain payments into the tourism sector. It showcases how digital finance can enhance visitor experience and promote economic inclusion.
