Crypto Influencer “CP3O” Sentenced to 1 Year for $3.5 Million Cryptojacking

Crypto influencer known as “CP3O,” real name Charles O. Parks III, has been sentenced to one year and one day in prison for orchestrating a cryptojacking scheme worth $3.5 million. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between January and August 2021, Parks used fake corporate identities to gain privileged access to cloud service providers.
During this period, he exploited the stolen computing power to mine cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Monero (XMR), with an estimated value of nearly $1 million.
Parks pleaded guilty in December 2023 to wire fraud, avoiding a potential sentence of up to 50 years. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to forfeit $500,000 and a Mercedes-Benz, with the total restitution amount to be determined later.
Authorities stated that the illicitly obtained resources were laundered through crypto exchanges, payment processors, NFT marketplaces, and banks, then converted into cash for luxury purchases.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch said the sentence represents accountability for manipulating technology and illegally using computing resources.
