Ethereum Foundation to Sell 10,000 ETH for Grants and Research

The Ethereum Foundation has announced plans to sell 10,000 ETH, worth approximately $43 million, to fund research, development, grants, and donations. According to a Tuesday post on X, the sale will take place on centralized exchanges through multiple smaller transactions spread over several weeks.
The organization stated that the move aligns with its treasury policy adopted in June, which calls for regular evaluation of fiat-denominated assets and adjustments in ETH sales.
Earlier this year, the foundation distributed more than $32 million in grants during Q1 2025 and temporarily suspended new grant applications to restructure the process. In 2025 alone, EF has already sold about $25 million in ETH to SharpLink Gaming and an additional 2,795 ETH, valued at $12.7 million.
Meanwhile, Yunfeng Financial Group announced the purchase of 10,000 ETH on the open market, and Ether Machine acquired 150,000 ETH to establish a treasury ahead of its planned Nasdaq listing. At the time of publication, ETH was trading at $4,326, up more than 23% over the past 30 days.
