Japanese CEO Gets 100% of Salary Paid in Bitcoin

Takashi Tashiro, the new CEO of Tokyo-based energy company Remixpoint, will receive his entire salary in Bitcoin, according to a company statement issued Tuesday. The move is part of a strategy to align management with shareholders and reflects a shift toward shareholder-focused governance.
According to the statement, Tashiro’s salary and taxes will be calculated in Japanese yen. The company will then purchase Bitcoin (BTC) at market price for the equivalent amount and transfer it to a crypto wallet designated by the CEO.
The payment structure complies with Japan’s Company Act and relevant tax regulations, the statement said.
Tashiro took over as CEO in June and announced plans to place Bitcoin at the center of Remixpoint’s financial strategy. The company, which operates in the energy sector, intends to incorporate cryptocurrencies into its treasury management.
