Leadership Change at White House Crypto Council as Bo Hines Resigns

Bo Hines, Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council, announced on Saturday that he is stepping down to return to the private sector. Hines was appointed in December 2024 by U.S. President Donald Trump to lead the advisory group on crypto assets.
In his statement, Hines thanked the crypto community for its support and highlighted his collaboration with David Sacks, the White House AI and Crypto Coordinator. He stated that the administration has helped strengthen the U.S.’s position as a global hub for cryptocurrencies.
An official successor has not yet been named, but according to independent journalist Eleanor Terrett, current Deputy Director Patrick Witt is the leading candidate for the role.
In July, the White House Crypto Council released a comprehensive report with proposals for regulating digital assets in the U.S. Although the group has played a key role in shaping policy, it has faced criticism for the lack of concrete action regarding the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
