Metaplanet reaches 20,136 BTC, targets 100,000 BTC by 2026

Metaplanet Inc., a Tokyo-listed company, announced on Monday the purchase of an additional 136 bitcoin for approximately $15.2 million, according to an official filing. The average purchase price was $111,666 per unit.

With this acquisition, the company’s total holdings have reached 20,136 BTC, valued at about $2.08 billion at an average cost of $103,196 per coin. This positions Metaplanet as the sixth-largest corporate bitcoin holder globally.

The firm has recently revised its bitcoin accumulation targets, now aiming for 30,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 100,000 BTC by 2026. This represents a significant increase from the original goal of 21,000 BTC.

According to the filing, the company has achieved a 487% year-to-date return in 2025 from its bitcoin investments. The strategy is based on the growing institutional adoption of the digital currency worldwide.
