Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Reserves Surpass $2.14 Billion

Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed company, announced a new Bitcoin purchase worth approximately $11.8 million. The firm acquired 103 BTC, bringing its total reserves to 18,991 Bitcoin.
According to the company, the average purchase price stands at around $103,000 per unit. At current market rates, the total holdings exceed $2.14 billion.
The transaction comes just a week after Metaplanet added 775 BTC to its balance sheet, highlighting the fast pace of its accumulation strategy.
In parallel, the company redeemed $20.4 million in bonds, reducing its liabilities. These moves are part of the Bitcoin Treasury Operations program, under which Metaplanet issues shares and bonds, directing the proceeds exclusively toward Bitcoin acquisitions.
The company launched this strategy in 2023, positioning Bitcoin as a core corporate reserve asset. Through this model, Metaplanet seeks to combine traditional financing mechanisms with direct exposure to the crypto market.
