One of the largest banks in Spain is launching BTC and ETH trading services

BBVA, the second-largest bank in Spain, will launch a trading service for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) directly within its mobile app. Customers will be able to buy, sell, and manage these cryptocurrencies in a simple and secure way. This decision comes after the bank received all necessary approvals from Spanish authorities, and the service will be gradually rolled out to all users in Spain. Initially, only a small group of customers will have access to these options, and expansion will continue as the service is consolidated.
This move aligns with a broader trend among traditional banks to adopt blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies. A similar example is Revolut, which has long integrated cryptocurrency transactions into its portfolio. Thus, BBVA is expanding its digital services to meet the demands of customers who want to explore cryptocurrency investments.
An important aspect is that BBVA will use its own cryptocurrency custody platform, which will allow it to maintain full control over customers' assets without relying on third parties. This adds an extra layer of security, which is appreciated by customers in Spain, who are aware of the risks associated with cryptocurrencies.
