Robinhood launches NFL and college football prediction markets

Robinhood announced Tuesday the launch of prediction markets dedicated to professional football (NFL) and U.S. college football. According to the company, the new tools will be available to customers in the coming days through the Robinhood app.
The brokerage platform stated that users will be able to trade on the outcomes of the most popular NFL games and college matchups from the Power Four conferences. Initially, the prediction markets will cover the first two weeks of the regular season, with weekly games to be added later.
Robinhood emphasized that these markets differ from traditional sports betting, as participants can buy and sell contracts with each other to set the price. Trading will be available daily between 8:00 a.m. ET and 3:00 a.m. ET.
The company is thus expanding its prediction markets hub, where more than two billion contracts have already been traded since its launch. Robinhood officials recently noted that the highest engagement levels are seen in the area of sports predictions, highlighting a major growth opportunity.
