Seeker, Solana’s New Blockchain Smartphone, Begins Global Rollout

Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, has begun shipping its Seeker crypto smartphone to over 50 countries, according to an August 4 announcement. The company states that tens of thousands of units are already being delivered to customers worldwide.

Seeker is the second-generation crypto smartphone developed by Solana, following the 2023 release of the Saga model. The Android-based device includes blockchain features such as Seed Vault for secure key storage, the Solana dApp Store, and an on-chain Genesis Token. This token provides early access to new applications and rewards in the SKR token.

The Solana dApp Store currently offers over 100 decentralized applications spanning DeFi, payments, gaming, and DEX aggregators. The company has also announced plans to integrate AI and DePIN services.

Each Seeker device automatically generates a soulbound Genesis Token and promises future SKR rewards, following a strategy similar to the “Chapter 2” airdrop used with Saga. The phone launch aligns with Solana’s broader mobile strategy, now supported by former X Head of Product Nikita Bier.
