Toulouse, France accepts crypto payments for public transportation

Starting in March 2025, Toulouse will become one of the first European cities to allow cryptocurrency payments for public transportation. This move reflects a growing trend of cryptocurrency adoption and blockchain technology across various sectors.
While the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in public transportation is currently rare, the French city is paving the way for the implementation of innovative payment solutions. This system will allow users to pay for tickets with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT, and Tisséo, the transport network operator, will instantly convert payments into euros, thereby protecting against the fluctuations of the cryptocurrency market.
Toulouse becomes a significant example for other European cities, especially in the context of the growing number of cryptocurrency users. If this initiative proves successful, it could encourage other cities to adopt similar solutions.
