UniCredit Enters Crypto With Five-Year Bitcoin Product Tied to IBIT ETF

UniCredit will offer professional clients exposure to Bitcoin through a structured certificate linked to BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), according to an internal memo cited by Bloomberg News on July 1. The product is denominated in U.S. dollars, has a five-year maturity, and guarantees 100% capital protection at maturity.
BlackRock launched its spot Bitcoin ETF in Europe in March, listed under the ticker “IB1T” on Euronext Paris and Xetra, and “BTCN” on Euronext Amsterdam. In the United States, BlackRock’s IBIT fund has accumulated over $73 billion in assets under management, making it the largest crypto-linked financial product by investment volume.
This initiative comes amid a broader shift by European financial institutions toward digital assets, supported by the implementation of the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework.
